“Olde Fashioned Christmas”
West Jackson Corners in East Shelby is a step back in time, where the hustle and bustle of a commercialized holiday are pushed aside. We will visit west Jackson Corners 19th century miniature village where there will be horse-drawn sleigh or wagon rides, Dickens-style caroling, a manger scene with shepherd and animals, samples of old-fashioned favorite foods cooked in a log cabin and all-you-can-drink hot chocolate. visitors can make a toy in Santa’s workshop or decorate a swag to take home and hang on their door. there will also be Christmas-themed arts and crafts for children.
We will also be welcomed to step inside the East Shelby Community Bible Church, which was built in 1854, and where a massive decorated Christmas tree in the corner of the sanctuary is a tradition. Since purchasing the church several decades ago, Pastor Olsen and his congregation have strived to keep the church’s original look and feel intact. A detailed history of the church and its founding members from the 1900s is set up for viewing.
One of the most iconic experinces of “Olde Fashioned Christmas” is the arrival of St. Nick, who’ll appear in the village at 4:30pm with his hrose0-drawn sleigh.
Join us on Sunday, December 9 immediately following the morning worship service. We will carpool from the church and stop for a light lunch on the way to 5278 East Shelby Road, off Maple Ridge Rodad (state Route 31 in Millville.)
