The Story of NFBC

How it all started...

There were four families residing in Lewiston and Youngstown, New York who were actively involved in churches in nearby Niagara Falls, but desired to see a Bible believing church planted in the communities where they lived. There were many established denominational churches in the area, but none with a strong emphasis on preaching God's Word and sharing the Gospel as given in Matthew 28:19-20: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

These four families continued to seek the Lord's will regarding beginning an evangelical church in the Lewiston-Youngstown area, and in May of 1969 they began weekly prayer times to pray for the Lord's direction.

To the far left work begins on the current location here at Bronson Drive.

To the right of that, the sanctuary, also named the Larson Auditorium in honor of one our founding couples, Irving and Eleanor Larson.
Pastor Richard Gilbert and his wife Lynette served here from 1985-2004.

Niagara Frontier Bible Church continues to be a place where the people of God meet to worship Him and love one another. It is a place of warm fellowship and strong teaching in God's Word. We are not perfect, and we are going though the sanctification (being made holy) process, but the Lord Jesus is among us and His Holy Spirit is working in us. We would love to have you visit!

This has only been a small sampling of the story of the Niagara Frontier Bible Church. For a more complete history please make sure to get a copy of "Remembering God's Faithfulness: 50-year journey with God, 1969-2019" by Eleanor J. Larson. Eleanor and her husband Irving, as mentioned above and in the video, were founding members of this congregation. Irving went to be with his Lord in 2013. He also wrote a book, the helpful "Basics for Believers", used by many here and abroad. An updated version has just been released. The founding members felt led by the Lord to establish a work that would be a light for the gospel in this area, and it has been for 50 plus years now. "Remembering God's Faithfulness" shows how God indeed has used NFBC all these years, and it is made clear that this was His work from the start and He deserves all the credit, praise, and glory! We love our Lord! Call the church to request a copy, while supplies last. Read it, be inspired, and with God's help let us carry on the work of reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

And in case you were wondering, Irving's "Basic for Believers" is available for purchase at amazon.com. Feel free however to call the church to see if any copies are available here.
